The Just Imagine Residency is an artist residency program organized by Liquitex, centered on material exploration and creative experimentation.
In the summer of 2024, Tomoko Takeda participated in the residency and produced a large-scale work measuring 225 × 62 inches through sustained experimentation with Liquitex products.
The zodiac is a traditional system originating in ancient China, used to mark the passage of years through twelve symbolic animals.
The year 2024 corresponds to the Dragon.
For this commission, Tomoko Takeda created ten dragon paintings using the egg tempera technique, exploring the dragon as both a cultural symbol and a contemporary image.
This product design project was created for Designer × Ice Cream at Hirohisa, a restaurant located in SoHo, New York.
The project is an initiative that features works by Japanese artists based in New York as seasonal ice cream package designs.
In the summer of 2025, the project will continue in Japan, where the ice cream will be sold alongside an exhibition of the artist’s works.
